This Villages level Gevrey-Chambertin is sourced from four mid-slope vineyards, all bordering premier cru sites. The wine is fermented with whole clusters (with stems) thus enhancing the structure and aromatic complexity of the fruit. Aging takes place in oak casks (30% new) for 14 months. The nose shows exceptional aromatics of violet, ripe berries, and plum skin. Excellent depth and fruit concentration on the palate with dark, juicy notes of cherry, raspberry, brambly berry characteristics, chalk, vanilla, and baking spice. With some air this wine really soars in the glass with great depth and a long finish. Pair with sautéed mushrooms, game birds, or filet mignon.
