“El Puntido” is a single vineyard Gran Reserva from Vinedos de Paganos and what they consider the most mineral expression of Rioja due to the site’s chalky soils. The low yielding (hand sorted berry by berry) fruit is aged in new French oak for 28 months. This cooler vintage, harvested in the last days of October, helped the wine lean into its style. This classical expression has everything we love about aged Tempranillo. Forest berries, kirsch, cigar ash, truffles, and pipe tobacco. There’s a beautiful saline quality to this wine as well, coming from the chalky soils. Only 5,000 bottles were made and they will hold in the cellar for years to come.
