Chapuy Tradition Brut Rose

Chapuy Tradition Brut Rose

$55.00

Rose Champagne this good, at this price, is simply a rarity. Grab one of these for your next upcoming celebration (and stash one away in the cellar as it is certain to improve for years to come!).

65% Chardonnay with 35% Pinot Noir (half of which was vinified red) from one of our favorite small grower producers in Champagne. This excellent producer is based in the Grand Cru village of Oger and offers terrific value at this price point.

Dry with excellent structure and versatility with a wide range of food. Delicate cherry and raspberry fruit merge on the nose and are deepened in complexity with crushed chalk and sea spray. The medium-to-full palate is soft with deceptively building acidity on the finish and a lovely mineral freshness to keep the ripe fruit in balance. The dry finish has plenty of the classic yeasty, biscuity deliciousness.

For the “Tradition” bottling, the Chapuy’s utilize their top-notch Chardonnay from Cote des Blancs’ Grand Cru site in Oger (about 65% of the fruit for this particular batch came from this prestigious plot) and blend in Pinot Noir sourced from Coteaux Sud d’Epernay. The varietals are vinifed separately and blended prior to secondary fermentation. Then the wine is aged for two years on the lees, at disgorgement a small amount of still Pinot Noir is blended in for color. Farming is sustainable and working towards full organic certifications.

Pairings: Poached salmon, eggs benedict, asparagus cream soup
