After visiting the Northern Rhone in the early 80’s, winemaker Robert Brittan was captivated by cool the cool climate Syrahs of Cote Rotie and Cornas. The 2.5 acres of Syrah he farms in windswept McMinnville is true to form with striking acidity and low alcohol. Like Pinot Noir and Syrah had a baby, this wine is nervy with incredible tension and ageworthy structure. Violet petal, cherry cordial, cranberry, plum, mint, and smoked meat reveal themselves layer after later. 15 months in French oak (35% new). Farmed organically. Drink now with a long decant, through 2040.
