Remarkably elegant and invigorating Riesling from this grand cru site in the red slate rich Saar Valley. Van Volxem is a star producer in this side valley of Mosel and the wine ages a year in large neutral oak, with barrels made from the forests of the winemaker himself. The nose presents ripe peach and minerals. The palate displays peach, lime, and mirabelle plum with a stony slate character on the finish. Grosses Gewachs must be dry in style and this one has only 8 grams of residual sugar. Drink through 2035.
