This stunner from Ribera del Duero showcases the beauty of Tinta del Pais, the local moniker for Tempranillo. Aged for 18 months in 25% new oak the layers of vanilla, chocolate, and sandalwood are meshing well with the youthful red plum, mulberry, and spiced black cherry flavors. The tannin provides incredible texture and soft grip without being broad shouldered. You’d never know this was the second label from this producer as this wine is simply tantalizing.
