Unlike valley fruit, mountain fruit presents more tertiary complexity and less of the overt fruitiness and booziness of many of the California Cabernets from lower elevations. This structure also supports substantial age ability for this beautiful Mount Eden Cabernet. The palate brims with black currant, cherry, plum, blackberry, brown sugar, and baking spice. The long finish shows off the herbal sage and mint notes expressed by this defined Cabernet. 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot. Native yeast fermentation before two years aging new and used French and American oak barrels. Unfined and unfiltered.
