Winemaker Matt Courtney founded Ferrin Wines in 2013 after cutting his teeth as Helen Turley’s apprentice at Marcassin Vineyards for eight years. He is no stranger to the Sonoma Coast and the extraordinary single vineyards that line it as he’s also the winemaker for Arista. This wine from the Silver Eagle Vineyard that sits atop the ridge separating the Sonoma Coast from the Russian River Valley produces cool climate Pinot to die for. The wine is wildly aromatic with explosive wild berries, dried flowers, and baking spice. The palate enthralls with savory forest floor mingling with brandied cherry, blackberry, passionfruit, and a bit of clove. The tannin is fine and provides some incredible texture. Traditional methods are used to make the wine with indigenous yeasts with no fining or filtration. Farmed sustainably.
